Using makeup can sometimes feel like creating a barrier between yourself and the world, but it could also just feel like fun. It doesn’t have to be so serious. Makeup is a gradual, trust-the-process kind of art. It might start off as a love-hate relationship, where you love the feeling of painting your face and customising your features for the day, as if you’re playing a makeup artist on girlsgogames dotcom. But then, when the time comes to take it all off, you feel a pit in your stomach, upset to see all the paint chip away. But the longer the routine continues, and you become normalised to the fact that makeup is just, well, makeup, it isn’t a fairy godmother with her magic wand here to get you ready for the ball, and no, there’s no need to panic when midnight strikes, because the night might be over but the next day is mere hours away.
Once the excitement of how fascinating “pretty” makeup is dies down, you realise you always look beautiful. The upgrades can feel very exciting temporarily but soon everyone gets bored of it, because to you it becomes your normal face. Now you have two faces, instead of one, and that is normal, nothing new, nothing crazy. So why not create looks that are Taking your emotions for the day and turning them into visuals to represent how you feel. Every day would feel brand new, because makeup won’t just be something to cover up beauty created by generations of love; instead, it could be a creative outlet, a way to really paint your face with how you feel, inspired by things you see and wonderful experiences. Each look would mean something to you, holding memories with makeup looks sounds so lovely, like a facial diary with glitter and gloss!

Makeup is so much fun, the GRWMs are always so entertaining because makeup itself is a very entrancing form of art. There are tons of trends on TikTok that keep pouring in day by day because people want something to yearn for. Sugar plum fairy, rockstar girlfriend makeup, strawberry makeup, it never ends. These are all just outlets for people to add more creative touches to their daily looks because they’re all bored of the same old “pretty” makeup, and these micro trends are a way to fit in whilst very slightly dipping their toes into fun looks. Don’t get me wrong, the micro trends are very fun to indulge in, who doesn’t want to look like a sugar plum fairy, but why not go even deeper and look like a garden nymph that’s hunted for “twelve species of endangered tropic butterflies to glue them on your lids,” like one very articulate Reddit user said
This might just be your sign to bathe in glitter, indulge in your creative tendencies, and let who you are shine through your face. The little girl in you would be ecstatic to watch her perspective of what makeup is come to life.
